Yes, this is my blog.

The pages are a work in progress. I’d love to hear your ideas.

Window Seat over Sichuan

Window Seat over Sichuan

I just returned from one of those long haul flights that are more scary on paper than in reality. A non-stop nearly 18 hour flight across continents. In economy class! Next to a snoozer too, someone I had to nudge out of stupor several times.

But yet. Look at what lay outside my window. An extraordinary expanse that I thought could only be conjured up by CGI. For ten minutes or perhaps even longer - being breathless for that long cuts off some oxygen to the brain, so I can’t remember the exact duration - this view of snow-capped mountain ridges went on and on and on. They ended in a sea of clouds, which made me think that we were then flying over ocean. But we weren’t. We were still flying over China.

The map on the plane said that this expanse beneath was Sichuan, near Chengdu. I really had no idea that Sichuan was so magnificent. I already love its spicy food - laziji is a better energizer than coffee! I hope one day I will get there. In the meantime, I’ll gaze at these window seat photos - FYI, window seat photos are awesome, check out these from photog Julieanna Kost.
